Webinar
Soil Analysis and Determination of Corrosiveness
Webinar Description
Knowledge and interpretation of soil attributes are key to determining defensible estimates of corrosion rates for buried pipelines. In turn, corrosion rates are key considerations in setting reinspection intervals. In this webinar, we will explore the myths and realities related to soil corrosiveness, and describe sampling and sample preservation, soil analysis methods, and options for using those results in models that provide qualitative or quantitative estimates of corrosion rates. We will also describe options for direct measurement of soil corrosiveness using techniques applicable to lab and field studies.
Event Information
Who Should Attend
This webinar is relevant to those involved in pipeline integrity management programs, especially with regard to developing the work scope to be performed when pipes are exposed for examination. It is also directly applicable to corrosion engineers and technical staff responsible for corrosion control and direct assessment of buried pipelines and related facilities.
