Innovating Midstream: TT’s 2024 Insights and 2025 Vision
By: Febin Jose
Technical Toolboxes (TT) hosted an insightful webinar, “Innovating Midstream: TT’s 2024 Insights and 2025 Vision,” featuring key speakers Febin and Joe Pikas. This session provided an in-depth look at TT’s progress in 2024 and its ambitious plans for 2025. Here’s a recap of the key takeaways for those who missed it.
A Year of Innovation: 2024 Recap
1. Customer Satisfaction and Engagement Metrics
TT emphasized transparency in sharing their Net Promoter Score (NPS), which currently stands at 63.1—well above the industry benchmark of 40. This score reflects high level of customer satisfaction with TT’s software and customer support.
TT also shared its active user metrics, highlighting 450+ weekly users and up to 1,200 monthly users. This engagement is a testament to the value TT’s tools provide to midstream professionals.
2. Continuous Product Enhancements
Over 330 feature enhancements were rolled out in 2024 based on user feedback from:
-
- Customer Advisory Boards (CABs)
- Support tickets and Jira requests
- Internal product and engineering insights
To improve product accessibility, TT also added 300+ pages of help documentation and 12 onboarding videos across key solutions like AC Mitigation, HDD PowerTool, and the Toolbox Suites.
3. Piper – The Game-Changer in AI for Midstream
One of the standout innovations in 2024 was Piper, TT’s AI-powered large language model (LLM), designed to provide contextualized, accurate responses based on regulatory codes like ASME B31.8. Over 120 users have engaged with Piper since the launch, offering valuable feedback.
Unlike other AI tools that pull data from the internet, Piper exclusively references industry standards, ensuring compliance and accuracy. It’s currently an Enterprise Tier-exclusive feature embedded within the Pipeline HUB.
4. Expanding the TT Platform: New Features & Tools
2024 saw the introduction of several new applications, including:
- API Collector App – A tool for the Inspection Suite that organizes field inspection data efficiently while offline
- Advanced Calculations – Features like Batch Run, Sensitivity Analysis, and AutoCAD Integration were built based on customer feedback
- Hydraulic Fracture Analysis Module – A significant upgrade to HDD, expanding its capabilities for hydraulic modeling
Industry Trends & 2025 Roadmap
Looking ahead, TT is doubling down on AI integration, automation, and enhanced regulatory compliance tools. The team shared key areas of focus for the coming year:
1. AI-Powered Regulatory Workflows
Regulatory compliance remains a critical challenge for pipeline engineers. TT aims to expand AI-driven workflows to simplify how teams interpret and apply regulations. AI will be further integrated into Piper, allowing it to assist with compliance documentation, audit, and inspection analysis.
2. Sensitivity Analysis & Advanced Engineering Calculations
TT is pushing the boundaries of engineering simulation with enhanced Sensitivity Analysis and AutoCAD integration tools. This feature allows engineers to model various operational scenarios, answering questions like:
- How does pipeline stress change based on depth variations?
- What happens if pipeline weight or load fluctuates?
Sensitivity Analysis is currently available for:
✅ Pipeline Crossings in PLTB
✅ HDD PowerTool
AutoCAD Integration is currently available for:
✅ HDD PowerTool
3. Pipeline HUB Expansion & Interoperability
TT’s Pipeline HUB continues to evolve as the go-to centralized platform for midstream engineering teams. Enhancements for 2025 include:
- Automated GIS mapping for regulatory and compliance use
- Enhanced report generation tools to simplify documentation
- More seamless integration with external engineering software
4. Future Developments: What’s Next?
The TT team is actively exploring new calculation models, expanded AI functionalities, and enhanced data visualization. They encouraged attendees to provide feedback on desired features for the 2025 roadmap.
Closing Thoughts
TT’s commitment to customer-driven innovation is evident. From expanding AI capabilities with Piper to improving engineering workflows through Pipeline HUB enhancements, 2024 laid a strong foundation for an even more impactful 2025.
🚀 Want to see these innovations in action? Enterprise Tier users can explore Piper in the Pipeline HUB, and TT encourages all users to participate in feedback sessions to shape future updates.
